Mike Shirota Introduced “Integrative Approach for Breast Health” at a Breast Health Convention in Japan
Mike Shirota, President of Mushroom Wisdom, Inc. (MWI), was one of the guest speakers at the 2nd
Breast Cancer Network Symposium held in Yokohama
on July 10, 2010.
Shirota's talk titled
"Alternative and Integrative Approach for Breast Health" was well-received and deepened the understanding and
education of the benefits of CAM or Integrative Medicine prevailing in the USA
and other Western countries.
The symposium has been sponsored by BC Network Japan, an affiliate of Young Japanese Women's
Network which was established in New
York area several years ago. Mike Shirota also gave a
lecture on CAM/Integrative Medicine to those U.S.
members of BC Network in 2007 in New
York City. Mike emphasized the importance of
understanding of CAM/Integrative Medicine especially on the risk of Western
style diet which has been prevailed among young Japanese people these days.
Another keynote speaker at the symposium was Dr. Freya Schnabel,
MD of NYU Cancer Institute-NYU
Clinical Cancer
Center who stressed that
it is essential to maintain good communication between doctors and patients.
